S.Korea, Russia Agree on Third Naro Launch (2010-10-25)
South Korea and Russia have signed an agreement on a third launch of South Korea’s “Naro” space rocket.
Minister of Education, Science and Technology Lee Ju-ho made the announcement Monday. He said South Korea will pay no additional costs, since expenses for a third launch were already reflected in the original contract for the two countries’ joint work on the launch of the Naro.
The two countries have been at odds over another launch of the space rocket since the second launch failed in June.
South Korea has been pushing a third attempt, while Russia has claimed that a review of the two countries’ contract on the Naro must be completed first.
Seoul failed in its two previous bids to use the Naro to put a satellite into orbit in 2009 and June of this year.
